Chilgapsan Ice Fountain Festival

We kicked off 2024 by taking an hour road trip south to the Chilgapsan Ice Fountain Festival. The festival is held on community farmland behind the Chilgapsan Suspension Bridge (chili pepper bridge) and offers activities like snow tubing, sledding, sled can rides and zip-lining. It also has unique snow displays, igloos and large ice sculptures that are fun to walk around.

We spent just under two hours here and our kids loved the unlimited snow tubing, they have smaller runs for the younger kids and longer ones for the older kids and adults. I’d say this festival is great if your kids around pre-teen age and younger. It’s not super large but has just enough to keep them entertained for a few hours. This was honestly the first outing with both of ours that we had zero tears shed and zero toddler meltdowns the entire morning, miracles do happen!

The festival is running now until February 28, 2024 and I definitely recommend getting there early for shorter tubing lines and fewer people. Enjoy a Korean corn dog, hotteok or chestnuts on your way out!
