3/8 Market

Soon after we arrived to South Korea, we were introduced to the weekly outdoor markets. Like I mention in my post about the 4/9 market, we quickly realized it was more economical to shop for produce in the local markets versus on base. The 3/8 market occurs on any day of the week that ends in a 3 or an 8. This market is relatively small compared to the 4/9 market, but has just about all of the in season produce you would need plus as assortment of fresh seafood, spices, clothing, candy, honey and more.

I think my all time favorite part of the 3/8 market is the lady who makes sweet Korean pancakes, or hotteok’s. It’s a fried pancake filled with dark brown sugar, seeds and other deliciousness. It’s a simple but oh so yummy treat and worth the wait in line for one.

I know we will definitely miss these markets when we leave South Korea so we certainly are taking advantage while we are here.
