Semiwon Garden

Semiwon Garden is a beautiful botanical garden located along the Hangang River, about an hour and a half north of Pyeongtaek. The park is known for its stunning lotus flowers that bloom from late June into early August. According to their website, the prime time to visit the flowers would be over the next week or two (early July).

Lotus flower bloom

With the weather getting pretty hot and muggy during the day, we made sure we arrived at the garden right as they were opening at 9 AM. There was already a line forming to get in, but it moved pretty quickly and once inside the gardens there was plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the blooms. Not all of the flowers have bloomed quite yet, but there were a lot to enjoy if you decide to make a trip that way soon.

The park was full of nature enthusiasts and photographers all vying for the best shot-there really were so many beautiful spots inside the park. If you enjoy nature photography make sure you add Semiwon to your list of places to photograph, I am sure it’s stunning in the evening closer to sunset. The lotus flowers are also so much bigger in person that I had expected, see my two year toddler below for reference.
