Mangisa Temple
This was our second venture out to Mangisa Temple, the first was over the winter, and despite the temple being beautiful then, I knew I wanted to see it during the spring when the foliage in the Jinwi Hills surrounding the temple had bloomed and turned green again. Since Buddha’s birthday is approaching on May 27th, they had the beautiful lanterns set up on the grounds that you will find after passing through the gate with the Four Heavenly Kings.
We went to Mangisa Temple on a Saturday afternoon around 4:15 PM and had the place to ourselves the majority of the time we there. We were greeted by a friendly monk working on site and enjoyed the rare gift of having the temple to ourselves on a weekend.
Mangisa Temple is located about thirty minutes from Camp Humphreys, and only six miles from Osan Air Base. If you are looking for something to do close to Pyeongtaek, make sure you add Mangisa Temple to your list of things to see while you are in Korea!
