Bucheon Million Rose Garden

The end of March through the fall brings some of the most beautiful blooms in Korea. From cherry blossomstulipsand lotus flowers to cosmos and roses, there is abundant floral beauty throughout Korea if you want to adventure out and find it. The Bucheon Million Rose Garden, just outside of Seoul, is a stunning display of roses that begin blooming mid-May and usually peak by early June.

Bucheon One Million Rose Garden

Established in 1998, the Bucheon Million Rose Garden is Korea's largest rose garden. The best part about visiting the garden is that it's free for all and is open twenty-four hours. I visited in late May around lunchtime, which isn't always ideal for optimal light. Luckily, it was slightly overcast that day, which worked to my advantage lighting-wise. Since it was lunchtime, the garden was pretty busy with people taking a lunchtime stroll, students from local schools visiting, and even pups enjoying the sights and smells of the stunning blooms.

Lots of photo opportunities like this tunnel of roses

As you walk around, you will see a variety of different roses in many different colors. I am not a rose expert (or plant expert in any way), so I will not even attempt to name them. Instead, I will just say they were magnificent and smelled spectacular.

The garden is located on the side of Dodang Mountain, so some park areas can get a little hilly. If you have young children with you, there is a small playground near the gazebo they can run around. If you are planning a visit to Bucheon Million Rose Garden, take your time there and visit all of the corners of the garden. This would be a great place to bring a picnic to enjoy if you want a unique date with your significant other!
